THE BIG SHOT
Sculptural Paragon of the 21st. Century
7 ft. maquette of wood & metal for a 16ft. Aluminum/Steel Sculpture to be constructed on the east-side of Shotgun Studios, 1625 W. Water Ave., Spokane across from the Centennial Trail in Peaceful Valley.
Collaborating artists-John Thamm, John Pollack, Jesse Swanson. Roch Fautch, Rick Davis, Rodney Davis
Artist Statement: The hypodermic needle is the enigmatic symbol of the 21st Century capable of producing pain while alleviating pain.
The concept grew from 2 sources-externally the Covid-19 messaging of the past 3 years about vaccines and internally the personal physical struggles that I have endured for the past 2 years with a rare blood cancer (Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia} requiring endless procedures using the hypodermic needle.
I want to acknowledge the excellent care that I have received from the team at MultiCare Deaconess Cancer and Blood Services in Spokane under the leadership of Dr. Wittenkeller. At this time “ The Mission is Remission.”
This is the photo montage of the proposed 16ft. high aluminum and steel Big Shot. It will be erected in the pocket garden located on the eastside of Shotgun Studios at 1625 W. Water Ave., Spokane and will be seen from the Centennial Trail in Peaceful Valley and from across the Spokane River in Kendell Yards.
Purchase the maquette for $10,000 to help underwrite the cost of the finished sculpture. If purchased at the Terrain show, 30% will go to Terrain. After Terrain, it can be viewed at Shotgun Studios Spokane. https://shotgunstudiosspokane.com. We will be posting the progress of the sculpture on the Shotgun Studios website and Facebook page.
